Nos corps vivants

2021 creation
Duration : 45’
Arthur Perole solo with Marcos Vivaldi (musician)
« What defines us as humans? What connects us to each other? What is the role of the other in our construction? These are important questions for me, which I confronted very early on. We are inhabited by different identities, emotions, images and characters that make us multiple beings. »
Arthur Perole, January 2020.
Since the creation of CieF, Arthur Perole works on group performances and draws his inspiration and his conception of space and time from them. With Nos corps vivants, he indulges in a different experience, the solo, favouring the connection with his inner self and the audience, and imbues his body with sensuality and flesh to let the essence of an emotion arise.

Thought as a celebration of our multiplicity, of our complexity and our emotions, the performance is a special, sculptured moment, in which the body and the images are treated as a film, with jolts, slow motions, bugs. A celebration imbued with tenderness, uncertainty and love.

Onstage, everything is visible and near the audience surrounding it: now in the shadows, now in the light, Marcos Vivaldi (music), Benoît Martin (sound) and Nicolas Gallang (lights) are an integral part of the performance. On the same level as the music and sounds shedding a different light on the dance.

The abstractness of the gesture associated to the lyricism, the friendliness and the humour of the performer creates an intense vibration in that minimalist space shared with the audience.

Zibeline

” He is bubbling with all the feelings, desires and questions that inhabit him, making the Other an essential companion to his intimate conversation (…) Arthur Perole dances with his guts and twists our hearts without excessive zeal, with just enough courage and sincerity to lay himself bare. “

” Through the audience’s appropriation of Arthur Perole’s body, Nos corps vivants is a cathartic show, giving life to our frustrations, our needs for the other and to revel with him/her… “

La Revue du spectacle

“Arthur Perole is one of those choreographers turning his search for identities into artistic material. In a work in progress becoming the very object of the performance, he explores before us – and with us – the stages of the identity developments determining his being in the world. “

” A Pierrot of love, Perole dances the desire to live and exalts the kitsch of a very showy escape, where everything is illusion, and yet is necessary for us. (…) This solo accompanied by Marcos Vivaldi (live music) is a poem danced with great sincerity. Touching and desiring. “
